Our places to stay in Graubunden fall within the country’s largest canton, a mountainous chunk of eastern Switzerland, with the Engadine, the deep valley of the Inn River, cutting through from east to west.
It contains the world-famous ski resorts of Klosters, Davos and St Moritz, where we have several recommendations, but the most charming hotels in the region are in the villages of the Engadine Valley.
With Austria to the north and Italy to the south, Graubunden is strongly influenced by both, and it is here that 50,000 inhabitants still speak Romansch, the linguistic legacy of the Roman Empire that is at once familiar and incomprehensible.
As elsewhere, our selection of places to stay in Switzerland’s Graubunden offers an exceptionally interesting range to choose from: guesthouses, restaurants-with-rooms and small hotels. Whichever, they all have the special qualities of hand-picked character and charm we seek out.
We have recently taken Hotel Meisser at Guarda off the site and can no longer recommend it. If you would like to know why, please contact our web editor on 02077201692 during working hours UK time.
