Resort Fondo la Campagnola is owned and managed by the Frassine family and is just across the road from another of their property - see Hotel Villa Europa.
There are four self-catering villas containing ten exclusive apartments, offering excellent value. The resort is set on a hill only a short walk from Gargnano’s centre, but you feel as if you’re in the countryside: you get panoramic views of Lake Garda and Monte Baldo; olive groves; a lush garden with citrus trees; fruit and flowers, and often a gentle wind blowing in from the lake. It’s intimate, yet 100m from the public beach.
Each villa has the charm of a traditional Italian family home, with hardwood floors and ceilings, ivory painted walls, iron bed frames and rustic wood furniture upholstered with floral and tartan fabrics. The bedrooms are cosy and elegant, all reasonably sized. Not all the apartments have a balcony, but each has a view of the lake and the garden, with some looking out to the pool. Some guests have reported occasional noise from the nearby coast road. Choose Villa Cedaria, by the citrus grove, for extra intimacy: it is the only private villa.
Tasting events are often held at The Fireplace Room – once a tavern, now a unique venue, located in the hotel just across the road. Local wines, cheeses and cured meats are on sale for guests of the hotel and the resort.
Ask for the three-day Garda Promotions Card at the hotel reception to take advantage of discounted local services and tourist attractions.
