"Felt at home instantly" was the reaction of our reviewer, who drove up the switchbacks to reach Berghotel Schillerkopf at the end of a long day. Not only was Christine Bosek happy to show off her domaine, even other guests were welcoming. One enthused about the garden, another about the indoor swimming-pool. It is the sort of place to settle into and relax, where attention to detail ranges from hand-carved ceiling panels to bright rugs on top of wall-to-wall carpets. All this and a terrific view over Bludenz some 6 km away.
The original Gasthof owned by Frau Bosekos parents burned down, so the present building dates from 1977, the annexe from 1983. Sporty types are kept happy with an all-weather tennis court plus horses; in winter, guests ski out and ski back, or spend the day in one of the other resorts around Bludenz. Special events range from barbecues to a Bauernbuffet (country buffet), from music in the basement bar to breakfast in a forest glade.
Book one of the refurbished bedrooms, with a view over the valley or straight up the mountain. Regulars come from all age groups and from all over Europe.
