When Malvika and Daniel Bosshard- Jürisaar took over a few years ago, they followed a hotelier couple who had kept up a fine reputation for this hotell in Silvaplana, just a short drive from St. Moritz. Recent visitors report that the hotel is as stylish (and expensive) as ever.
The 33 bedrooms and suites, however, remain bright and practical, with local Arvenholz (larch), blue or pink fabrics, crisp white duvets and equally spotless bathrooms. The informal Spunta-Engadina aserves modern dishes and there is a buffet at the Thai restaurant on Sundays (take- away available).

Nearby, there is kite flying on Lake Silvaplana or e-bike riding in summer; free use of cable cars all year. When the hotel is closed, its sister, Julier Palace, next door (open all year) is worth a visit.
