Our places to stay in Eastern Spain are in the provinces of Teruel, Castellon, Valencia and Alicante. Valencia is the main city. Two old favourites stand out here: the Hosteria de Mont Sant, near Xativa and Pension Castells at Castell de Castells.
The so-called Costa Blanca is the main tourist feature of the region, much visited by Germans and the English, who still invade resorts such as Benidorm in their tens of thousands. The name was invented by a British airline in 1957 to promote cheap flights to Alicante, another big resort on the 200-km stretch of coast.
As elsewhere, our selection of places to stay in Eastern Spain offers an exceptionally interesting range to choose from: guesthouses (hostals), restaurants-with-rooms and small hotels. Whichever, they all have the special qualities of hand-picked character and charm we seek out.
