Many of the hotels we've selected in this part of Spain have breathtaking views, but this one is exceptional. On a clear day, the cortijo, and its surroundings (which you can explore on horseback) offers amazing views of the country around Seville, and of the city itself.
On arrival, you may well be greeted by the charming manager, David Venegas, in the large, whitewashed courtyard where blazing-hot-pink flowers are festooned from the walls. Just off the courtyard is the sitting room, which may strike you as a little drab after the brilliant scene outside, but actually it's comfortable and cosy, especially in winter. In summer, guests prefer to sit and read or drink on the terrace, with its fabulous views and spectacular sunsets - heliophiles please note.
When we visited, a new restaurant/dining room was under construction, which also promised great views of the plains and gardens - we'd be interested in reports on how this turns out.
The bedrooms are round the side of the Cortijo, overlooking the garden in a charming, small courtyard, quite close together, useful for families or groups of friends. Down a few steps from here is the substantial pool, complete with honesty bar and changing rooms.
