East Anglia and Region

Our places to stay in East Anglia are spread across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. Click on these counties for summary listings of our hotels in each. These will then lead you to detailed hotel descriptions. This region also includes Cambridgeshire, where currently we have no listings.

East Anglia is the flattest part of England, famed for its enormous skies and wide horizons. The main geographical features are the Brecklands, with sandy soil and pine forests; the flat, wet fens, largely below sea level, created by draining; and the coast, which ranges from the broad sandy beaches and marshes of Norfolk to the wide estuaries and pebbly beaches of Suffolk and Essex.

Lavenham Priory in the historic medieval village of Lavenham represents most of what we look for in a charming small hotel, as does the Rose & Crown at Snettisham.

As elsewhere in Britain, this East Anglia selection offers an exceptionally interesting range to choose from: guesthouses, inns, restaurants-with-rooms and small hotels.
