Small and stylish, this family-run hotel is more likely to have as guests professors from the nearby Polimoda International Institute of Fashion and Design than groups of tourists. The Avuri family have recently renovated the building, making it a stylish base for exploring Florence, well placed for sightseeing.
The bedrooms are decorated with pale walls, light wooden headboards, striped beige or brown bed covers and wood or tiled floors, some with rugs. The effect is minimalist, broken up here and there by some flowers, modern art or a brightly-coloured sofa. Despite the clean-cut style of the place, pets are welcome.
Breakfast is served in the open-plan bar/breakfast room (or in your bedroom on request). A small bar in the corner offers drinks throughout the day. The hotel has been featured in interior design magazines. The colour scheme in reception is fairly plain (blue, white and grey) but it is brightened up by modern prints and paintings and large plant displays.
There’s no restaurant, but the Avuris will give you the inside track on local eateries.
