A dramatically situated, fortified monastery on a hilltop next to the medieval church of Santa Maria di Spaltenna, built around a central courtyard. The present management has been in place for some years now and has carried out extensive redecoration and renovation. Cosy standard rooms are in what were the monk's cells, while suites and de luxe rooms (done out in up-market country style) are housed in various outbuildings. There is a plethora of facilities (pools, sauna, gym, Jacuzzis and so on) but a dearth of atmosphere. The food, served in a rather formal room, is good but expensive.
