As its name suggests, the Commercianti caters primarily for the business market, but in a city with few tourist hotels it is a useful place to know about, and several recent visitors have been impressed. It has an excellent position – right in the heart of things, just off Bologna’s main square, next to a smart pedestrian shopping street. The hotel exudes an air of efficiency rather than notable character (‘rooms aren’t particularly memorable but they are very comfortable’, says one reporter). The hotel makes a good central base. There is no restaurant – just a café-like breakfast room. Although the Commercianti is situated in a traffic-free zone, guests can gain access by car in order to park in the hotel’s garage.
