The Limeni Village is a successful compromise between the unique vernacular architecture of the Mani and the comforts of a modern resort-style hotel, including what is indisputably the best swimming pool in the Mani region (admittedly from a choice of only three hotels with pools). There are fabulous views, too, over Itilo bay, surrounded by steep hillsides, to the grim grey slopes of the Pentadaktilos mountains and the ruined ramparts of Kelefa castle. The rooms are built in sensitive imitation of Mani tower houses, and spread down the hillside, with most rooms clustered around the pool and its stone-walled terrace; creepers and maturing palm trees and shrubs soften the outlines of the stonework. The rooms have stone floors, rugs, and wooden bed platforms and are simply decorated.
