This beautifully-kept, quiet hotel has a low-rise, Cycladic design: two-storey white houses, with brightly painted woodwork, are set among lawns, surrounding a two-storey main building. The pool, bordered by a stone-paved patio, is in front of the main building, and the sandy beach at Kolimbithres is an easy 150 m walk. A copy of the Paros kouros (marble statue of a youth), after which the hotel is named, stands in the cool, partially open-air lobby. Service is low-key but friendly, and the rooms, though not outstandingly original in their decoration, are comfortable and well equipped. Each room has its own balcony or terrace, with views of the sea, the surrounding hills or fields.
The Kouros is unpretentious. It has all the facilities of a proper little resort hotel. With fewer than 100 beds it rarely gets crowded even in summer, and it has none of the ostentation and pretensions to grand hotel status of the nearby Astir. It also represents great value for money, especially for a family holiday. Naoussa is (just) within walking distance, but the hotel's minibus will take you to this village, and to Parikia, the island's main port.
