The Reppert has taken the German concept of 'Wellness' to heart. Set in Hinterzarten, a tranquil, upmarket lake resort, this chalet hotel embraces the gamut of detox-relaxation-exercise-therapy-beauty routines, offering a choice of swimming pools (indoor and out, freshwater and saltwater, heated and cold), exercise from pool gymnastics to Nordic walking (with ski poles, good for bones), soaking in Jacuzzis and solariums, therapies from Abhyanga massage to wrapping with minerals, and a long list of cosmetic treatments.
Three generations of Repperts have run this friendly hotel. The bedrooms are spacious and supremely comfortable with views of the small lake at the back and of the surrounding hills - more than half have balconies. And the public rooms have a plush kind of elegance. The rates are good value because they include breakfast and dinner, and there are interesting week and weekend deals incorporating activities and therapies. But some readers may find this hotel over the top, with its fancifully tiled Moorish Spa, and Oriental Bath with Tropical Rain. It is, nevertheless, very popular with young-to-midlife couples and singles wanting to cool out and rejuvinate.
