La Ferme is a renovated farmhouse with superb facilities and owners who really wish to turn your stay in the Alps into something special. Refreshingly, Anne-Christine and Frederic Boulanger do not simply rely on their prime position amongst the mountains and ski slopes to attract or entertain their visitors.
The rooms may be a little small for some, but the thought with which they are furnished reveals a strong desire to please.
One suite makes imaginative use of a tiny, low-ceilinged room in the rafters, turning it into a miniature, tent-like 'children's only room.' The restaurant has been described by one guest as a 'little gem', and reportedly serves delicious dishes as well as an excellent selection of wines from across Europe. Outside, a heated outdoor pool and a Jacuzzi overlook Mont Blanc, whilst the living room features a roaring, open log fire.
Service is excellent. The staff are immensely welcoming and eager to cater to their guests' needs. They have been known to scour resorts for spare cribs when their own supply was fully booked, and to pick up stranded guests who have missed their last bus. It's well worth knowing that they often have a range of offers and discounts available to their customers.
Free bikes and helmets are on offer to those wishing to explore the area, and there's obviously a large range of varying ski routes to choose from. After being battered on the slopes, guests can book themselves in for spa treatments and massages. A real find - as one visitor said, 'this hotel is so good I almost don't want to tell anyone about it.'
