In an area of grand hotels and exorbitant prices, the Residence Lord Byron, slightly more illustrious sister of the Mayflower next door, stands out for its personal service and, by local standards, reasonable prices. The elegant entrance and formal sitting room are decorated to a high standard in traditional style, with a fleet of delicate chairs, upholstered in velvet or checked silk. With the exception of the suites, bedrooms tend to be smallish, but are modern and comfortable, with bold floral fabrics, traditional-style furnishings and spotless bathrooms. Annexe bedrooms across a flower-filled garden offer peace and quiet. The garden is the hotel's greatest asset and lovely in summer.
