One of our favourite discoveries, Le Prieuré is more a private house than a hotel. An 18thC gentilhommerie standing right beside the church, which shadows the attractive garden, it is owned and run by Philippe and Christine Poulin, a committed young couple, who fell in love with it and have worked hard to restore and refurbish it. The bedrooms are fresh and pretty, with painted walls, fabric draped over some of the beds and a scattering of antiques. There are more antiques in the attractive beamed public rooms, including the elegant parlour, where breakfast is served. The garden is English in style, with roses and fruit trees, and a little terrace; try for one of the rooms that give on to it.
