Set in what was originally a granite cowshed, Y Goeden Eirin (The Plum Tree) is a cosy, charming guesthouse situated in the little hamlet of Dolydd in Gwynedd. Run by welcoming hosts Eluned and John Rowlands, the place offers a comforting blend of traditional and contemporary.
The well-designed bedrooms are attractive and homely, with slate floors and underfloor heating, and include all the necessary modern amenities to make for a superemely comfortable stay. The dining room (also with slate floor) is wonderfully traditional, with its wooden beams and exposed granite walls. The atmosphere is laidback and intimate, and John and Eluned have wisely chosen quality over quantity when it comes to their menu. Food is home-cooked on the Aga and is locally-sourced wherever possible.
