The Academie is a smart Paris hotel in an elegant 18thC building, rather stiffly decked out in a dark green and blue colour scheme. To our mind, the gilded Empire-style furniture and Classical statues strike a rather pompous note, but this is perhaps unfair because, despite the preponderance of swags and tassles, gilt and velvet, the colours are rich, the seating areas and breakfast room softly lit and cosy. Bedrooms are thoughtfully decorated with individual furniture and objects, and bathrooms well-planned. The term 'junior suite? means you get a small sitting area and a Jacuzzi.
