Artistic touches flourish in this late 19thC building, down a private tree-lined road in Aldeburgh. Run by artists Annie Lee and Simon Farr, the three-bedroom guesthouse thrives on bright and distinct schemes; we think it works because we enjoy quirkiness. Hand-crafted and painted decorations adorn the bedrooms - one eye catching bedroom door painted with bold green and gold made quite an impression on us.
Dunan House is strictly bed and breakfast - they don't do dinner. However, breakfast (cooked by Annie and Simon) is a highlight, with eggs coming from the resident hens and fruit from their garden. Aldeburgh has a range of restaurants within walking distance and Annie and Simon are happy to recommend.
Our most recent visit coincided with Aldeburgh festival, and the atmosphere at Dunan House provided the perfect homely backdrop to the culture. We think the prices charged are a bargain, given the size of the bedrooms and quality of service.
