We’ve never found a place in Brighton we liked enough to recommend, but Charlie and Justin’s Artist Residence has changed that. They’ve converted two old Regency townhouses in beautiful Regency Square, with views of the sea, into a buzzing, trendy 24-room hotel.
The two townhouses are divided into the Artist rooms, which are individually designed and decorated by local artists; and the House rooms, which have Farrow and Ball muted walls, earthy tones and fabrics, and bathrooms that make the best of small spaces.
Recently, two new restaurants have also opened downstairs. The Set Restaurant is a personal, 20-cover restaurant serving a seasonal British tasting menu, whereas The Set Cafe offers a more casual environment where seasonal small plates and craft beers are served on long tables with sea views. Downstairs the Cocktail Shack, designed like a shanty beach shack, draws a young, local hipster crowd.
