This sophisticated bed and breakfast in the heart of Norwich can claim to be one of the best in the city.
Owners Jan and William Cheeseman were managers of two Norwich delicatessens before buying 38 St Giles, so they know a thing or two about good food. The breakfasts don’t disappoint - imaginative jams, fresh pancakes and homemade granola feature on the wide-ranging menu - and all ingredients are locally sourced. The Norfolk breakfast is a particular favourite with guests - one recent visitor describing it as 'the best British breakfast' around.
They've made the most of the breakfast room as a public space. White walls and lofty ceilings enhance the feel of Georgian grandeur - the pretty crockery adds a contrasting, feminine touch.
Bedrooms are an interesting marriage of traditional and contemporary design. Period features such as large fireplaces and generous bay windows give a lovely old-fashioned feel, while contemporary chaise longues, colourful silk curtains and modern wooden furniture make each room feel chic and cool. Welcome treats, such as homemade brownies, are left for guests.

A more rural, tranquil retreat is hard to imagine: Amada Carlotta stands alone in thick, green countryside.
