  The refurbished 16thC manor house has five smart bedrooms in a variety of eye-catching styles, with sea views, king-sized sleigh beds and flat-screen TVs. There’s additional accommodation in the Cottage Suite, with its log-burning stove and inglenook fireplace. On arrival, the welcoming hosts will offer you a hot drink and a slice of home-made cake.
Strete is in the hilly area of south Devon known as the South Hams, with great walking and cycling, to give an extra dimension to the coastal scenery. If the weather’s poor, book a massage appointment with the qualified therapist.
They make a serious effort with the buffet breakfast here, served in a pleasant room overlooking the large gardens. There’s no lunch or dinner, but the hosts can recommend local restaurants.
